100 Things About Me
- I was born June 1st 1978
- Under the window sill in my parents’ living room.
- Homebirth is the norm rather than the exception in The Netherlands, I can’t imagine EVER having a homebirth.
- I had my daughter in a hospital, WITH an epidural.
- The anesthesiologist sounded like Apu from the Simpsons.
- I was ready to offer him a kidney after he made the ouch go away.
- I adore my daughter with every fiber of my being.
- She is my Sun, my Moon and my Stars
- She also drives me nuts on a regular basis.
- I started reading at a very early age.
- My mother says that it was so I could read the TV Guide.
- There may be some truth to that.
- Whatever the reason for starting, it’s something I still greatly enjoy doing on a daily basis.
- My favorite Genre is Fantasy.
- David and Leigh Eddings are masters of the genre.
- Robin Hobb is right up there with them.
- Spent every child hood summer on a boat.
- My Dad bought me a sailboat.
- He took me out in it, told me to pay attention and after twenty minutes sent me out on my own.
- I was fine.
- Should have started earlier though because in my teens I dropped it completely.
- My great uncle is the designer of the Ufo Sailboat.
- My family on my father’s side is all about the boats.
- Spending a childhood on a boat is great, loses it shine at the teens though
- I did Gymnastics as a child, but was too much of a wimp for the spectacular stuff
- I started Ballroom dancing in my teens.
- Entered competitions with it and the competition team became a group of very close friends.
- The ‘group’, as we referred to ourselves as, spent almost every night in our house for an entire summer.
- I remember that as one of the best summers of my life.
- My parents rock for allowing that.
- They also let us go away for weekends on their boat.
- Got my first boyfriend in that time.
- I wrecked his head, he broke my heart.
- Even though I am really happy in my current relationship and plan to grow old with this man, my heart still twinges sometimes at the thought of my ex.
- I realize that this is due to nostalgia.
- I am very much prone to nostalgia.
- I became involved in a biker club when I was 16.
- Had an amazing time with them, going to Rallies and parties.
- Always said I would never date a club-member, someone with chest-hair and/or someone with a beard.
- Met my “Paddy” at a Halloween party in Wales with the club.
- All three applie(d) to him.
- Bikes are no longer on the scene.
- This may very well change in the very near future.
- I am finding it very hard to come up with one hundred things about me.
- My favorite color is Lilac.
- My favorite number is 16.
- My eyes are green/blue.
- I was born with a droopy eye-lid.
- I was missing a muscle in my eye-lid but the doctor’s copped on too late.
- The result was crossed eyes and reduced vision.
- I can only properly see with my right eye when I wear a contact lens.
- My left eye is pretty much useless.
- My last eye corrective surgery left me with a slight case of double vision.
- I always thought I would not be able to learn to drive because of this.
- Paddy suggested I give it a try anyway and take lessons.
- I took lessons and am now driving my little Fiat Punto every day.
- Am VERY proud of myself for persevering.
- It scared me half to death in the beginning.
- It significantly changed my life for the better. The freedom is amazing.
- No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” is the song that reminds of losing my best friend when I broke up with the boy from nr 32. They were the same person.
- “I know one day you’ll have a beautiful life, I know you’ll be the sun, in somebody else’s sky” was the Pearl Jam lyric that reduced me to tears after losing the ex. It made me realize that I wanted him to be happy, and if I couldn’t be the one that made him happy, I wanted him to find someone that could.
- That was a hard realization to come to.
- I LOVE ice-cream
- I have an extremely short fuse.

- When my mother and I start to laugh, we take forever to stop.
- I love laughing like that.
- My daughter is also very funny.
- She cracks me up.
- We are very affectionate together as a family.
- There are lots of hugs and kisses everyday.
- I think that’s the way a family should be; loving.
- I take parenthood extremely seriously.
- Some people say I go overboard with it.
- I don’t care.
- The responsibility for another person’s life, for their childhood, for shaping them as humans is not to be taken lightly in my book.
- I did not exactly take to motherhood like a duck to water though.
- Think I am a pretty good one now though.
- My daughter and my boyfriend think so anyway.
- Not a day goes by that I don’t realize how lucky I am.
